Betsy DeVos is the 11th US secretary of education and the US senate confirmed her after being nominated by President Donald Trump. DeVos is a n advocate fro children and has been in education for almost three decades. Betsy DeVos is a reformer and has been involved in campus politics and has led many campaigns, political campaigns, and party organizations for over thirty years. She has also served as chairman for the Michigan Republican Party for six years. Her husband, Dick DeVos was also a Republican nominee for Governor of Michigan. DeVos started a foundation that gave scholarships to low-income families and realized that it would help some families but not others, since some children would not get the opportunities they also deserved. In 2000, the DeVoses tried to change the constitution to allow tax-credit vouchers or scholarships. The defeat of the proposed amendment caused Betsy to promote the expansion of charter schools in the state and over two years, her work was very successful. That was the start of her involvement in the American Federation for Children. DeVos is very focused on freedom of choice when it comes to education. She also believes that digital learning may be the way of the educational future. Homeschooling is also another great way to give your kids the education they need and deserve. DeVos gained an interest in education at a young age by her mother, who was a teacher in a public school.
